PM Oli clarifies to parliament he has no connection to ‘vested interest groups’

Kathmandu: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has clarified that he is not familiar with crony capitalism (interest groups). “It is not capitalism, but humanism and socialism that we will bring. The current government will not protect capitalism. It is not money, but people that are important for us,” he said during the time of further clarification after responding to the issues raised during the discussion on the government’s policies and programmes at today’s meeting of the House of Representatives. In response to the questions came up during the discussions on the government’s policies and programmes for fiscal year 2025-26 before this, he said fertilizer industry would be set up in the country through a new modality. Stating that the government is clear on the need of a fertilizer factory in the country, the PM reiterated that the factory would be established in a new way. He added that the government was also mulling waste management using new method. PM Oli made it clear that Nepal being placed on the ‘grey list’ internationally regarding money laundering problem is a weakness of the previous government. In today’s meeting of the House of Representatives, while answering questions raised by MPs during the discussion on the government’s policies and programmes, the Prime Minister urged the House for the swift passage of the bills related to the alternative development finance operation, the federal civil service and the bill to amend and integrate the laws related to the Nepal Police and the Armed Police Force Nepal. Likewise, the PM Oli has urged the Parliament to prioritize the School Education Bill, the bill providing for the establishment of the Nepal Civil Aviation Authority, and the bill made for the amendment and integration of the laws relating to the Nepal Civil Aviation Authority.
