Malpractices in public institutions gradually ending, says Minister Dr Timilsina

6 June, Trishuli (Nuwakot): Minister for Information and Communications Dr Bikram Timilsina asserted that Nepal is moving towards a new political culture centered on development and good governance. Minister Timilisina said so while addressing the first district convention of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) at Battar in Nuwakot district today.

During his address, Timilsina stated that the incumbent government is steadily dismantling the long-standing malpractices such as political favoritism, backdoor dealings and middleman’s meddling or influence within the public institutions that, he added, had flourished at the behest of political patronage. Furthermore, he mentioned that the government is working to make public service delivery more effective, transparent, accountable and corruption-free.

The Minister reiterated, “The role of intermediaries or middlemen, who sought to influence government decisions through personal connections and inducements are gradually disappearing across the country.” Minister Timilsina also emphasized that the political culture must change from the grassroots level, starting with local wards. “Politics should be a means of nation-building, not a tool for personal gain,” he maintained.

He observed that the decision-making processes are increasingly being guided by institutional systems rather than by the influence of individuals or middlemen. According to him, the government is committed to ensuring equal access to opportunities and services for all citizens. On a different note, he underscored that the policies and decisions of three-tier governments should be evaluated from a long-term perspective.

He was of the view while all results may not be immediately visible, people must be able to experience tangible improvements in governance and development. Likewise, Dr. Achutam Lamichhane, Member of the House of Representatives from Nuwakot-2, underscored the dedication of both parliament and the government to meet the public aspirations. He highlighted the directive from Prime Minister Balendra Shah to assess timelines and results to this effect.

MP Bodh Narayan Shrestha from Dhading-2 emphasized the necessity of addressing the common development goals of both Nuwakot and Dhading districts, asserting that effective leadership is crucial for tackling these challenges. There is a call for a united effort to elect the new leadership from the district convention of RSP Nuwakot.
