Language Commission submits report to President

Kathmandu, Sept 6 : The Language Commission on Thursday has submitted its report to President Bidya Devi Bhandari. The commission has submitted the report of fiscal year 2074/075 BS.

The commission has drawn the attention of the government regarding the policy on national language and languages of the nation.
The commission chair Labdev Awasthi submitted the report to the Head of the State at President Office Sheetal Niwas.
While receiving the report, President thanked the commission for the report and said that it would be given to the government for necessary actions.
On the occasion, she also expected that the concerned bodies will implement the report for the execution of the constitutional provision regarding the linguistic issues.
The report states that the tasks regarding the languages were not taken ahead as per the constitutional spirit. No progress was achieved so far regarding the multi-lingual policy in the federal, provincial and local levels.
Commission chair Awasthi shared that the report had drawn the attention of the government regarding the decreasing numbers of the Nepali language users.
The provinces are yet to decide on the provincial languages. The commission was formed to recommend developing and preserving the languages of the nation after holding the study and research in the areas and to recommend the measures to be official languages.
