24 Jestha, Rasuwa : Land ownership of women has been increasing due to the implementation of a policy measure to exempt revenue on land registration in women’s name. Rasuwa district has witnessed rise in land ownership by women as a result of the government’s incentive to waive 50 percent revenue on land registration in the name of women.
The policy decision was taken to ease women’s livelihood and reduce inequalities persisting within families. Disclosing the National Census 2078 statistics in Dhunche on Tuesday, the Statistics Office Nuwakot informed that 826 women in Rasuwa had their single ownership of land. Among them, 188 women have their own houses and 638 have possessed land only.
Statistics Officer Dipendra Singh Dhami informed that as many as 950 women have possessed joint ownership land certificates. With this, land ownership by women has been increasing in Rasuwa having 22,654 women population.
Land Revenue Office Chief Ganesh Shrestha said there was a provision of 25 percent revenue waiver in the headquarters area and 50 percent in other areas while registering land in women’s name. Rasuwa having 26 nationalities has a total population of 46,689. Among them are 32,127 from Tamang ethnic community, the statistics office informed.
Rasuwa has 69.60 percent literacy and 11,139 families have possessed own house or residence. As many as 973 women from Rasuwa are in foreign employment while number of men is 1,329, it is shared. The data disclosure programme was organized to inform the general public about the district-based results of the census.
