19 July, Kathmandu : President Ramchandra Paudel has said that humans and nature should be kept at the center of development. Addressing a program organized on the occasion of the 64th anniversary of the Nepal Engineers’ Association here today, President Paudel said that the concept of development should be linked to the welfare of the people and the prosperity of the country. “We should not forget the diversity including history, geography, culture, ethnic composition during development.
It is necessary to rapidly advance production, employment and economic activities to address the demands of the present time and the desires and aspirations of the new generation.” Stating that Nepal is geographically complex but rich in natural resources and hence is in need of sustainable and environmentally-friendly infrastructure, President Paudel said our roads, bridges and hydropower projects must be resistant to natural disasters. Our development must be based on the principles of ‘green development.’ And climate change is a major challenge facing the country.
President Paudel said that the future of any country depends on the vision, energy and capacity of the youth of the country, and made it clear that the dream of economic prosperity and prosperous Nepal will be realized only when the innovative thinking of young minds and the technical skills of engineers are combined. “Time has entrusted that responsibility to you today.
The number of our skilled young engineers going abroad in search of employment and opportunities is increasing. This is a matter of concern for the country. I urge the government and the private sector to create adequate opportunities and a friendly environment for young engineers and architects in the country.”
