In the final played at New Jersey Stadium in New York, USA, Spain defeated defending champions Argentina 1-0 in extra time. The match remained goalless throughout the regulation 90 minutes, forcing an additional 30 minutes to determine the winner. . Spain’s Ferran Torres scored the decisive goal in the 106th minute, securing a historic victory.
Spain last lifted the trophy in 2010. Argentina was reduced to 10 players after Enzo Fernandez was sent off following a second yellow card during regulation time. Argentina defeated England 2-1 in the semi-finals to reach the World Cup final. Spain defeated France 2-0, securing its place in the final.
