23 July, Kathmandu: The country’s oldest university, the Tribhuvan University (TU), has celebrated its 67th anniversary today. On the occasion of the TU Day today, Minister for Education and Sports and Vice-Chancellor of the university, Sasmit Pokharel, hoisted the university’s flag at the programme held at the central office in Kirtipur.
The professors and employees, who served the university for long, were honoured with the ‘Long Service Medal’ on the occasion. Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Dr. Bhola Thapa, shared information about the current status, progress, and future plans of the university, saying that he has focused on the educational advancement of the university through excellent education, research, and innovation.
Tribhuvan University, established in 1959, has five institutes, four faculties, 40 central departments, 64 constituent campuses, 1,053 affiliated campuses, and four research centers. Currently, there are 500,000 students studying at the university and 16,062 staff members working there.
